Quick Start Tutorial
Get started with VSWork in just a few minutes
Before You Begin
Make sure you have VSWork installed and you're signed in to your account. If not, follow our Installation Guide first.
Create a Project
Organize your work with projects
Steps:
- Click the "+ Create Project" button in the dashboard
- Enter a project name (e.g., "Website Development", "Client Work")
- Add a description (optional)
- Click "Create" to save
💡 Tip: Create separate projects for different clients or types of work to keep your time organized.
Start Tracking Time
Begin tracking your work hours
Steps:
- Select the project you want to track time for
- Click the "Start" button
- Work on your tasks while VSWork tracks your time
- Click "Stop" when you're done or taking a break
Tracking: Your time is being recorded. VSWork tracks your active time automatically.
Idle Detection: If no activity is detected, VSWork will mark that time as idle.
Add Notes (Optional)
Document what you're working on
While tracking time, you can add notes to describe:
- •What tasks you completed
- •Issues or blockers encountered
- •Next steps or to-dos
Review Screenshots
Verify your work activity
VSWork automatically captures screenshots while you work. To view them:
- Navigate to the "Screenshots" section
- Filter by date, project, or team member
- Click on any screenshot to view it in full size
- Delete screenshots if needed (privacy controls)
View Reports & Analytics
Analyze your productivity
Access detailed insights about your work:
- •Time Summary: Total hours tracked per project
- •Productivity Charts: Active vs idle time
- •Export Options: Download reports in PDF or CSV
Configure Settings
Customize VSWork to your needs
Adjust settings to match your workflow:
- • Screenshot frequency and quality
- • Idle time threshold
- • Notification preferences
